A Case of Pancreatico-colonic Fistular after Acute Pancreatitis

Abstract
Pancreatic fistula is used to encompass communication between the pancreatic duct and the skin (external fistula), between the pancreatic duct and hollow viscera, and between the pancreatic duct and peritoneal or pleural cavities (internal
fistula). The
majority of pancreatic fistulas are external fistula.
The common causes of pancreatic fistula were trauma and pancreatic surgery. Pancreatic fistula due to pancreatitis was rare.
Pancretico-colonic fistula accompanying pancreatitis did not occur during the eary, acute phase of pancreatitis, but rather as a consequence of pancreatic abscess and/or pesudocyst. The major site of fistula was in the transverse colon, the
splenic
flexure, and the descending colon in order.
We experience a case of pancreatico-colonic fistula after acute alcoholic pancreatitis associated with a protracted course of disease and pancreatic abscess.
We report this case with the review of the literature.
